RADIUS configuration guide

RADIUS  is the node took responsibility for authentication, accounting in telecommunication networks. RADIUS  is always connected with all kinds of  Network Access Server (NAS), such as router, switcher, RAS, and all kinds of  NAS posible. Because the interface between RADIUS and NAS is standard RFC  protocol, so the RADIUS' configuration method of NAS' configuration method is similar. The following is an example with WinRadius & 3COM's RS 1500.

Consider the safe, every NAS usually is connected to two RADIUS server, the one of the two RADIUS server can replace the other when it meet some problem. NAS usually named the two RADIUS server as primary server  & secondary server. There are two interface between NAS and RADIUS server: accounting, authentication. The configuration variances of each interface are: RADIUS IP, port and secret. The secret is designed for safe consideration,  you must keep the secret of RADIUS server the same as the NAS' one.

NAS usually can be configured  via Telnet. You can start Telnet connection by running "telnet" command under Windows, Linux/Unix platform, and then input the following configure command when the Telnet connection is OK.

To configure RADIUS server is to configure RADIUS server' port & secret. If your RADIUS server is connected to many NAS and the NAS are using different secret, You shall set suitable secret for every NAS. Please go to WinRadius' "Configuration/Multi-Key" to set these.
